LANDINGS

‘To grow, we must first be able to land’.  LANDINGS is a place for growth. LANDINGS will dip deeper into a choreographic language to discover how to break away from conditioned movement. Having spent a lot of time at site specific locations in recent years, Rachel has returned to the comfort of the studio for a while so that she can explore, momentum, collision, flight and landing.  She will begin her work on the floor, exploring perspectives and layering projections.  She is interested in movement over screens, exploring the relationship of sound and audience proximity to the screen body.  LANDINGS considers previous work, drawing connections and bringing ideas together to move forwards into interdisciplinary practice.

THE WALL

There have been a few opportunities recently to set up some experiments in the studio. This new work is very much in progress, but it has provided great entertainment, many failures and a platform from which to begin a new live interdisciplinary stage piece.  There have been 12 weeks of research, experimenting and thinking around some impossible tasks, with a variety of technical experiments including projection and live feed. This process has been part of an opportunity to increase collaboration and use the studio for extending practice, made possible by support from Rebecca Chapman and Florence Eade.

Somethings look a lot easier than they actually are.

This is the first part of an interdisciplinary live performance that will explore the psychology of training for specific movement practice.
